Installation terms and conditions

1. Date of Installation

  1. The vehicle and parts must be accessible and present at the agreed time of the install. Our technicians will wait for a maximum of 20 minutes. If any of the aforementioned are not available after this time the job will be deemed as cancelled and subject to a Cancellation Fee. Please see Section 6 for cancellation details.
  2. Installation dates vary depending on our current workload and the type of job and availability of a technician and parts.
  3. The booking time advised is an estimate only of the arrival time for our technician. However, we have elements that can affect this that are out of our control such as: traffic, delays in previous jobs, vehicle breakdowns, staff injury or illness, weather conditions and any other unrelated issues out of our control.
  4. In extremely rare circumstances that may be out of our control we reserve the right to cancel an installation, or delivery. When circumstances out of our control dictate, we are not liable for any compensation, or loss of earnings this may create. Our installations are generally booked Monday to Friday 8am – 5pm, during winter months we may need to rearrange due to lack of light. In some areas we can book Saturday installations, but please be aware that our office is not open on Saturday or Sunday’s.
  5. The equipment will be sent directly to the installation address or address provided before the day of installation. If no specific delivery address is provided, then the equipment will always be sent directly to the installation address. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure these goods arrive on time and to inform us of any delivery problems, missed deliveries, non-deliveries, or lost deliveries minimum of 2 working days before installation. If we are not informed before the installation date, or the installer arrives on site and the equipment is not there for him to install, then our Cancellation Fee will be charged see section 6 cancellations.
  6. An electronic job sheet will be completed by the engineer and a copy will be emailed to the email address we have on file, copies can be requested if required within 30 days of completion of the job, after this date the job will be archived, and we may charge for copy job sheets. If an additional report or job close down report is required this will be chargeable, please contact us with your requirements.

2. Equipment

  1. On occasion to install the equipment we may have to modify parts of the original vehicle including small drill holes, every effort is made to make the holes or modification as inconspicuous as possible. It does not always mean a completely damage-free installation which Auto Tec won’t be held liable for.
  2. Our installers will always try to help set up your device for you. Our installers may not always be able to do this due to not being familiar with certain phones/products on the market, especially if not provided by Auto Tec. If this is the case, you may need to refer to the user guide provided by the manufacturer or contact the supplying dealer for help. We are not liable for compatibility issues or interference caused by products. Our sales team will always try and advise of any possible issues with certain cars if we are aware of these. No refund is available for device compatibility problems or faults with the product supplied for installation. Compatibility or interference issues need to be referred to the manufactures of the products purchased.
  3. Vehicle coding and compatibility- some vehicles require certain features of the vehicle to be activated by the vehicle dealer using diagnostic equipment prior to aftermarket products correct functionality. As each vehicle leaves the factory with different features activated depending on vehicle specification, Auto Tec will not be liable for any costs involved in activation of such features. An example of this would be adding a music device e.g. Car Play to a vehicles original radio system, this may not function correctly until it has been coded correctly.
  4. Dash cam interference – from time to time we have experienced interference issues with certain dash camera and sometimes vehicle manufacturers’ radio reception can be affected due to ‘electrical noise’ impeding the signal coming into your DAB radio.  We usually find this happens with cheap unbranded products from eBay or Amazon. Auto Tec cannot be held responsible, and the customer must refer back to the vehicle or product manufacturer.
  5. For a professional dash camera installation you will need a hardwire kit which can be purchased at the same time as your camera. Most professional camera systems come with this included, if you are not sure please call us for advice. If you do not have a hardwire kit, your installation may incur additional costs on the day for any additional hardwiring equipment or may be cancelled if deemed necessary.
  6. Some installations require the use of self-adhesive pads to secure items in vehicles, Auto Tec are unable to guarantee the performance of these pads due to weather conditions and other factors that can affect their performance.  If we are required by the customer to reattend then a service call will be chargeable.
  7. Auto Tec recommend that you or a qualified engineer test the kit prior to installation, if a fault with kit NOT supplied by Auto Tec is faulty at the time of installation we will endeavour to complete as much as the installation as possible and if a return visit is required to complete the installation, then this would be chargeable. Please follow the installation instructions carefully and read all safety information and guidelines before use. Auto Tec is not liable for any costs relating to the installation, use or removal.
  8. Auto Tec tries to provide unbiased professional recommendations on products with regards to upgrades.  This is based on our experience.  However, we expect the customer to carry out their own research before purchasing and Auto Tec cannot be held liable if we don’t fulfil your expectations.
  9. Van Lock Fitting – Our team of engineers take great care and precision when fitting van locks and security products. However, given the tools and abrasive work involved, it is possible that minor marks may occur. We assure our customers that we will take all necessary precautions to prevent this, however on the very rare occasion this happens we will do our best to repair any damage to the vehicle.
  10. We will not be held responsible for any rust that may form on metal or bodywork after the installation of van locks and security products.  Any costs or repairs resulting from such rust formation will not be covered by the company.
  11. We always follow the manufacture instructions to install locks, however as an example certain vehicles require the lock barrel to be installed at an angle, this is not a defect and is to enable the alignment of the lock to the door. We are happy to provide information and pictures on your vehicle prior to the installation.

3. Location and Parking

  1. In the event of poor weather conditions a covered area to work is advised. This is to protect the upholstery and electrics of your vehicle and the components we are installing or repairing from rainwater damage. This area should be spacious enough to allow both front doors of the vehicle to be fully opened without any obstruction. Our technician may cancel an installation if he feels the weather will affect his health and safety. We sometimes use rain covers and these attach to the outside of the vehicle using suction pads however we cannot guarantee that this will fully protect the vehicle.
  2. Our technicians are not insured to work in National Car Parks (NCP) or council owned car parks and it is not our responsibility to pay for any other type of metered parking. For Health & Safety reasons and for the protection of your vehicle, work cannot be carried out on busy main roads and dual carriageways. Please contact us if you are unsure of these conditions or need to make alternative arrangements. If no parking is provided, or the parking provided is not suitable, then the installation will be cancelled, and a Cancellation Fee will be charged as this is your responsibility to check and inform us prior to installation no refund is available.
  3. When testing products that require GPS or GSM network we may be required to move the vehicle if the vehicle is in a poor signal area, if we are unable to move the vehicle then Auto Tec will not be held liable for any callbacks to commission or test installations. Our technicians are unable to do installations in undercover carpark where there is no GPS signal as the equipment cannot be tested.
  4. If in a congestion or clean air charge zone, charges must be paid by the customer
  5. If parking is in a permit zone, a permit must be supplied by the customer any further costs for parking will be charged to the customer.

4. Pre & Post Checks

  1. Our installer will check the vehicle before and after the installation. We advise the customer to check the vehicle with the installer before and after the installation as any faults or problems with the vehicle must be raised and discussed with the installer before he leaves site. We are not responsible for any issues raised once the installer has left the site. The customer or an authorised nominee must attend the vehicle with the installer before the job, and once the job is complete. If the customer fails to inspect the vehicle once the job has been completed, then this invalidates any possible claims to the installer or Auto Tec.
  2. After we have left the vehicle, Auto Tec cannot be held responsible for any third party charges without being given the opportunity to rectify any problems allegedly caused by one of our technicians. If a fault is found with the installation, this must be reported to us immediately by telephone during office hours.
  3. (outside office hours we cannot be held liable for any recovery or emergency repairs)

5. Pricing and bookings

  1. Prices quoted may be subject to change if any additional parts or labour are required. All additional parts will be payable on the day direct to Auto Tec. If the job is not as described when we arrive on site then Auto Tec has the right to cancel the installation and a cancellation charge will be due, Please see Section 6 for cancellation details.
  2. To enable us to book the installation correctly we require the following as a minimum, failure to provide this information may result in cancellation:
    • Vehicle make, model and registration
    • Full equipment to be installed including accessories
    • Make and model of product being installed
    • Installation manual – only required if not supplied by Auto Tec
    • Location address
    • Site contact details
  3. If an administrative error has resulted in an incorrect price being displayed or quoted, we reserve the right to correct that price and notify you accordingly. In these circumstances, it will be deemed that a contract has not been entered into and you will not be bound to continue with your purchase. You will be asked to email us to confirm that you wish to proceed at the correct price. However, should you choose not to do so, your monies will be refunded in full by the same method as the deposit was paid. The repayment of such monies paid to us will be the extent of our liability to you in the event of pricing errors.
  4. We may require a deposit or purchase order to secure the booking, once we have received this we will process the booking and issue a confirmation via email. Only at this point will the booking be confirmed.
  5. All goods remain the property of Autotec until paid in full. If any payments are clawed back unfairly from the paying company/bank, then we charge £50 administration fee when defended successfully. Whilst any money is clawed back we cease all warranty or support until resolved with the issuing bank.
  6. If any changes are made to the installation after the booking confirmation has been issued an administration fee of £20 will be charged per item changed.
  7. When making an order with us you are entering into a contract with Auto Tec and therefore must adhere to our terms and conditions outlined.

6. Cancellation

  1. Please be advised that a Cancellation Fee of 100% of the labour costs minimum £85.00 + VAT will be charged:-
    • if access to the vehicle is not possible for reasons beyond our control,
      – If the job cannot go ahead due to wrong information being supplied at time of order
    • less than 24 hours’ notice is received to change the appointment date and/or time,
    • or any of the relevant points above have not been adhered to.
  2. We reserve the right to cancel an installation at any time. This will only happen where the circumstances are out of our control and cannot be rectified in time for the install. Auto Tec is not liable for any compensation or loss of earnings this may create.
  3. Please note that cancellations must be communicated immediately during business hours by calling 01789 224214 between 9;00am – 5:00pm.  Our installations are generally booked Monday to Friday. In some areas we can book Saturday installations, but please be aware that our office is not open on Saturday or Sunday’s.
  4. In the event that an appointment needs to be cancelled we require at least 24 hours’ notice. If this is not given then a Cancellation Fee will be charged. If we are given incorrect details for an appointment and we are unable to locate the address, a Cancellation Fee may be charged. If you wish to change the installation address, we require at least 24 hours’ notice to rearrange this. If this is not given, then a Cancellation Fee will be charged. If the equipment is not on site when we arrive, and we have not been informed of the non arrival or any other reason for this then a Cancellation Fee will be charged. Please note it is the customer’s responsibility to make sure the equipment is on site and we must be informed if the equipment has not been delivered so that we can cancel the technician or a Cancellation Fee will be charged.
  5. If the product or any associated wiring or accessories is deemed faulty and additional installation callouts are required, you will be charged for these callouts. If the installation has been modified or tampered with, the warranty will not be valid and a callout charge will be payable. Installation costs are not refundable even if the product is faulty and has to be returned.
  6. If an installation is cancelled and the customer requires a refund, it should be noted that delivery charges will not be refunded. All parts are to be returned by the customer via an insured delivery method. Car specific and special-order parts may not be able to be refunded in full.

7. Warranties

  1. Parts are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, this does not include misuse, wear and tear, modification (unless carried out by the installation technician) or unintentional user damage.
  2. At the time of install should any of the information about the vehicle differ from that on the order confirmation and consequently prevent the installation to be completed, this may result in additional service call charge.
  3. No charge will be made for parts and/or labour providing a fault is found and the device is within the warranty period.
  4. Auto Tec cannot be held responsible for any third party charges without being given the opportunity to rectify any problems allegedly caused by one of our technicians.
  5. If a product is deemed faulty within the warranty period and a replacement is required, we may ask you to pay for the replacement part, once the manufacturer receives the faulty goods and confirms there is a fault we will then process the refund. This process can take up to 28 days.
  6. Auto Tec would not be liable for an amount greater than the purchase price if the goods are defective

8. Service Calls

  1. If a Service Call is booked and a fault is found to be user error, wear and tear or any other part not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, then a Service Call will be charged. It is possible that parts may need to be purchased to resolve the fault, resulting in additional costs to the customer.
  2. The following are not covered under warranty: user error, misuse, damage, faulty/change or modification, product moved to different vehicle unless performed by Auto Tec, fault or anything otherwise deemed outside of the manufacturer’s warranty.
  3.
